Description
40ХГСМА steel is used: for the production of hot-rolled steel by synthetic slag treatment and is intended for remelting in an induction furnace method of electroslag remelting in the production of the responsible castings for the aircraft; details of drilling equipment for oil industry and construction (drilling rods).

Chemical composition
Fe is the basis.
According to TU 14-1-4325-87, the total mass fraction of sulfur and phosphorus should not exceed 0.024%. The following deviations from the norms of the chemical composition are permissible: manganese, silicon and nickel - plus 0.050% each, chromium and molybdenum - plus 0.030% each, phosphorus - plus 0.005%. The residual aluminum content is not more than 0.045%. The content of nitrogen is controlled in steel. The presence of tungsten to 0.20%, titanium to 0.030%, and vanadium to 0.050% is not a defect.
