Chemical composition and properties

In CIS countries tool alloyed steel 4Х5МФС is produced as per specifications of GOST 5950. The steel in question includes carbon, as well as alloying additives - silicon, manganese, nickel, chrome, molybdenum and vanadium, at that, in comparison with the nearest analogues - 4X5MF1S and X37CrMoV5-1 (1.2343) - steel 4X5MFS differs with a reduced content of vanadium and carbon. The composition also includes copper, sulfur and phosphorus.

The optimum technique of heat treatment is considered to be that when steels are quenched at 1000...¹⁰⁵⁰⁰ С in oil and then tempered at 520...⁵⁵⁰⁰ С for 1.5 to 2 hours. The finished forgings obtain the hardness of 48...51 HRC, with the index of impact toughness not less than 50 ^J/cm2.

Application
