Hexagonal brass stock for machining
Hex bar is specified across the flats, not by a nominal round diameter. Give the alloy, across-flats dimension, bar length, tolerances, straightness, condition and finish. Leaded free-cutting grades and lower-lead brass grades are not interchangeable; the drawing, machining process and end-use restrictions determine which grade to request.
Specification and documentation
ASTM B927/B927M covers selected brass rod, bar and shapes, including hexagonal rod in specified alloys. For C36000 free-cutting brass rod, bar and shapes, ASTM B16/B16M may apply instead. Include the exact UNS grade, standard edition or approved drawing and certificate needs.
