Production and use
12X18H9T steel is a chromium-Nickel austenitic alloy. Is smelted in electric-arc furnaces. Production is regulated by the following GOST: 18 143−72; 5632−72;18 907−73; 4405−75; 5949−75;5582−75; 7350−77; 4986−79; 25 054−81; 9940−81; 9941−81; and the 14−1-377−72, 14−1-416−72 and 14−1-565−84. Such steel is used in welded structures (heat exchangers, tanks), working in dilute solutions of HNO3, organic acids of medium concentrations of organic solvents, under the action of soil and atmospheric moisture, cryogenic temperatures up to -196°C. Applied energy engineering at t° up to +600°C, for example, for heat exchanger valve fuel water-cooled reactors, turbine blades, parts of compressors and pumps.

Resistance to corrosion
According to GOST 7350−77, 18 143−72, 5945−75 this steel resistant to intergranular corrosion. When tested by the method of AM, AMU GOST 6032−89: after an hour of heating up to 650 °C the sample is immersed in a test solution at 24 and 8 hours respectively. The steel is resistant to oxidation in air and in an atmosphere of combustion to 900 °C and in conditions of thermal cycles to 800 °C heat-resistant Steel at a temperature of 600−800°C.
Technological parameters
During hot processing should take into account the content of 8-ferrite. Ingots with 20% of 8-ferrite and more, heated to 1250 °C, containing 16−19%, up to 1255 °C; containing less than 16 per cent to 1270 °C. Typically, the pressure treatment is conducted at a temperature 1180−850°C. the heating Rate and cooling limit. In the cold state a high degree of plastic deformation. To relieve the tension of the welded joints, subjected to stabilizing annealing (850−900°C).
Welding
The automatic submerged arc welding an-26 and an-18, or argon-arc welding using wire SV-08Х19Н10Б SV-05Х20Н9ФБС SV-04Х22Н10БТ and SV-06Х21Н7БТ; in manual — type electrodes EA-1Ф2 brands TSL-2Б2, GL-2, EA-606/11 with wire SV-05Х19Н9ФЗС2 SV-05Х19Н9ФЗС2 and SV-08Х19Н9Ф2С2. Wire SV-08Х20Н9С2БТЮ in the protective gas used for automatic manual welding.
The electrodes of CL-11 and CL-9 with wire rod St-07Х19Н10Б and SV-07CR25NI13 respectively used in manual arc welding. When you control for AM and AMU GOST 6032−89 without provoking heat, these electrodes attach to the seam resistance to General and intergranular corrosion in 65% HNO3 at 70−80°C. However, the seams may be prone to stab corrosion. The welds obtained with electrodes of CL-11 and CL-9 are respectively: σin=550 and 600 N/mm2; KCU=80 and 70 j/cm2; δ=22 and 2%.
