Copper grade and product selection

Copper products must be selected by grade, purity, deoxidation practice, product standard and delivery condition. ETP, oxygen-free, deoxidized and alloyed copper grades can have different conductivity, hydrogen resistance, softening behavior, formability and welding response. A generic request for copper does not establish the chemistry or performance required for an electrical, thermal, pressure or fabrication application.

Dimensions, temper and inspection

State whether the requirement is for sheet, plate, strip, bar, busbar, wire or tube. Provide thickness or diameter, width, length or coil data, tolerance, edge, straightness or flatness, temper and surface finish. For tube, add outside diameter, wall, construction and end finish. Include quantity, minimum conductivity or mechanical-property requirements, test basis, coating or plating, dimensional inspection, marking and certificate type. Add a drawing for cut, drilled or machined parts and identify the forming, joining or service conditions where they affect material selection.
