General Characteristics

Nickel, a common metal today, seemed to miners in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries to be just a punishment. When mining copper, miners in Saxony often encountered rocks from which they could not produce any metal at all. Nickel was named after Nick, a harmful dwarf. Nickel was only obtained in 1751 by the young Swede A. Cronstedt, who thought it was a semi-metal and suggested that it should have the "people's" nickname. Nickel originally interested only jewelers, it could not be used in industry because of the impurities of sulfur. But later it was discovered that the addition of magnesium to the melt binds the sulfur and oxygen, and only then does nickel become a plastic, strong and malleable metal of a grayish-yellow color with a shiny surface. This fact was established in the seventies of the 19th century, after which a large-scale application of nickel began, which today has become an integral part of a huge number of heat-resistant alloys that are resistant in corrosive environments.

Tube production

Tubes and tubes made of NP-2 alloy are characterized as hollow products with constant cross-section size and cavity along the entire length. They are supplied straight or coiled. Pipe cross-section may be in the form of oval, circle, rectangle, square or equilateral triangle, regular convex polygon with constant wall thickness along the entire length. The inner and outer cross sections have a concentric shape and the same orientation. Corners may be rounded along the entire length. The surface is polished or may have some kind of coating, carving, bending. Often, the finished product is drilled, tapered or expanded at the customer's request, tapered or has sleeves, rings or flanges on its ends - flat or rectangular rings with holes for tight connection of pipes by means of bolts or studs.

Application

The NP-2 tubes are used to manufacture condensers. In chemical industry such pipes are used for transport of aggressive substances, such as alkalis and acids, as nickel is indifferent to acid corrosion, steam and other aggressive media and can be used in hydrogen synthesis. NP-2 tubes and pipes are in demand in the manufacture of equipment not only for chemical but also for the paper industry, food industry, injection needles, steam condensers.
