Technical Characteristics
Zr is a steel-gray metal with a yellowish tint. It is characterized by malleability and ductility almost identical to gold. It is a corrosion-resistant, heat-resistant, paramagnetic metal that is resistant to seawater, alkalis, ammonia, acids, retains radiation, and does not lose its properties at cryogenic or high temperatures. As a rule, Zr is used for alloying corrosion-resistant steels. It is widely used in power engineering, chemical, paper-making, food industry, in production of steam condensers and injection needles.
