General characteristics
With the help of stainless steel transitions change the diameter of the pipeline from larger to smaller and vice versa. Concentric transitions are produced, they are also tapered — marked K), when both diameters of the transition are located on one axis of symmetry. Eccentric transitions are also produced. At such transitions the profile is a rectangular trapezium — one wall is straight, and the second is the change from one diameter to another.
Manufacturing
Domestic stainless steel transitions are made seamless forged to welding. They are designed for pressure of 63−100 atm. According to TU. 26−18−38−90 dimensions are specified as follows, for example, 76x57 — 325x273. The length of transitions must correspond to GOST 17 378−2001 (for steel transitions. Domestic stainless steel transitions most often made of steel alloys 08X18H10T or 12X18H10T.

Imported stainless steel reducers are made of electric-welded pipes, so they have a thinner wall at the same transition diameters, they have less weight and are not designed for such high pressure. They are produced in brightened 304 AISI, 304L AISI, rarely 316 AISI (316L AISI) grades.
