Lead sheet
Production
Production of sheets of lead or its alloys is regulated by
Basic qualities
It is a readily fusible heavy metal, one of the most ductile metals used in engineering. It is well stamped, cut, drilled and rolled. It is chemically inert and corrosion resistant. The sheet can be alloyed with antimony, nickel, calcium, copper, arsenic and cadmium, which can improve the technological characteristics of lead. It itself, its dust and fumes are quite poisonous - cause internal injuries.
Applications
Lead sheets are used in the manufacture of screens that absorb radioactive radiation and vibration. Its chemical inertness makes it relevant in industrial chemistry, construction and other industries. Practically eternal roofing and storage tanks for chemically active substances are made of lead sheets. Cheap lead batteries do not yet have an acceptable alternative.
