Heat-resistant nickel-based KhN56MBYUD (EK62; KhN56MBYUD-ID; EK62-VD; KhN56MBYUD-VD; EK62-ID) alloy is used in the manufacture of equipment and devices parts that are operated in cryogenic environments. This alloy is also designed for gas turbine blades and nozzle apparatuses. The main requirements to the material for the turbine blades are caused by the latest developments of the engine design, constant increase in ductility, heat resistance, resistance to low cycle and thermal fatigue as well as resistance to the effects of gas media. In modern engines, the material for turbine blades must have high resistance to low-cycle and thermal fatigue fracture, which is the main failure mode today. Failure hazards can be exacerbated by surface reactions associated with grain boundary loosening, gas corrosion.
