Boiler and spring steel

Evek GmbH offers to buy rolled sheets of boiler steel, grade 12K, as well as spring steel with increased carbon content. Prices - from the supplier, prompt delivery of metal to the address specified by the consumer.

Composition and properties

12K steel grade according to GOST 5520-79 has the following chemical composition:

Element Carbon Silicon Manganese Chrome Nickel Copper
Presence in steel, % 0,08...0,16 0,17...0,37 0,4...0,7 Up to 0.30 Up to 0.30 Up to 0.6

As an impurity, steel 12 K contains up to 0.04% of sulfur and phosphorus, and up to 0.08% of arsenic.

Foreign counterparts of this steel are as follows: steel A285 in North America, steel 1.0345 in Western Europe.

The practical range of section sizes of supplied steel is as follows: width - 6...240 mm, depth - 1500x4200 up to 5000x18000 mm. Deliveries are made in the form of rolled thick plates and tubular sections. Delivery options include reduced or normal deoxidation grades (grades A, B and C), and normal or reduced strength grades respectively. 12K steel in the hot-rolled state is well amenable to diffusion welding without any special technology and heating of the joined workpieces.

The main physical and mechanical characteristics:

  • Ultimate strength, MPa - 350...440;
  • Ultimate ductility, MPa - 205...225 (lower values correspond to thin-sheet rolled products);
  • Relative elongation, % - 24;
  • Tensile strength, kJ/m2 - 780.

Application

12K steel is used in the manufacture of boilers, industrial water heaters and other vessels that operate under pressure, as well as at normal, reduced and elevated temperatures up to 180 ... 200C. Easily amenable to the separation operations of cold forging, preliminary annealing is not required.

Sheet and bulk rolled spring steels with high carbon content provide the material with proper strength and elasticity.

Evek GmbH offers rolled 12K steel at producer prices. A wide range of profiles, in compliance with the required parameters, is provided. Delivery is possible according to ASTM specifications, EN 10028, as well as DIN 17155 standards with testing if necessary. Each batch of purchased products is accompanied by a quality certificate.
