Relevance
Grade 03Cr18N11 refers to austenitic chromium-nickel steels. It is relevant in chemical engineering for the manufacture of welded containers and pipelines in contact with boiling 70% nitric acid, 45−80% HNO3 at t ° 80−140 ° C, as well as for parts resistant to adipic acid, ammonium nitrate in the environment of nitrous gases, at t ° above 80 ° C. The welded joints of this steel are resistant to knife corrosion and can withstand pressures up to 5 N/mm². The temperature range of welded structures: from -196 ° C to +300 ° C.
Production
Steel is melted in open electric arc furnaces, vacuum induction furnaces and low-carbon ferroalloys are used. Also used methods of gas-oxygen refining of liquid metal and vacuum decarburization of the melt in the ladle. The following State standards are provided for 03Cr18H11 alloy: 1133−71; 5582−75; 25,054−81; 5632−72 and TU: 14−1-1160−74; 14−1-1180−74; 14−1-2144−77; 14−1-2450−78; 14−1-3071−80; 14−1-3652−83; 14−1-490−72; 14−4-3071−80.

Physical properties
Steel is resistant to intergranular corrosion after provoking tempering (1 hour at t° 650°C). Tests according to DU GOST 6032−89. The corrosion rate must not exceed 0,5 mm/year in 03Cr18Ni11 and 0,4 mm/year in 02Cr18Ni11.

Technological parameters of treatment
Temperature of ingot heating for rolling 1240−1260°С. The temperature range of hot deformation of semi-finished products is 1100−900°C. Softening heat treatment is applied for removing build-up after cold or hot deformation. Hardening is carried out in water at 1040−1100°C. The machinability is the same as for Cr18Ni10T steel. The content in the sheets of α-phase — no more than 0.5 points.
Weldability .
The weldability is good. When manual arc welding electrodes OZL-22 with wire brand Sv-01Cr18N10 are used. When an automatic submerged-arc welding or welding in shielding gas using wire Св-01X18Н10 (Св-01Х19Н9). It should be noted that according to the conclusion of NIICHIMMASH corrosion resistance and strength of welded joints in this case is not lower than that of the base metal. Unlike 08X18NYuT, welded joints of 03X18N11 and 02X18N11 steels are resistant to knife corrosion in oxidizing media. Welded joints of these steels can be annealed to remove stresses, with no fear of their tendency to intergranular corrosion.
