Composition and properties
Stainless steel AISI 405 is a low carbon ferritic steel, generally supplied in the annealed condition. According to European norms EN the steel grade 1.4002, and, in accordance with the classification UNS S40500 material has a European designation X6CrAl13. The chemical composition of the considered steel are presented in the table:
Component | Carbon | Cream-tions | Manganese | Aluminium | Nickel | Chrome | Iron |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Percentage of material | Not more than 0.08 | Not more than 1.0 | Not more than 1.0 | 0,1…0,3 | Not more than 0.6 | 11,5…14,5 | The rest |
The closest domestic analogue of AISI 405 steel (1.4002) — stainless steel brand 10KH13SJU. It comes on the other enterprise, and is different from this material wider tolerances aluminum content (up to 0.8…1.0 percent), carbon (to 1.0%) and lower Nickel content (less than 0.3%).
The presence of Nickel and aluminum helps in better cleansing of steel from oxygen-containing compounds and indicates a higher plastic properties of rolled products. Mandatory metallurgical impurities in steel are sulfur (not more than 0,035%) and phosphorus (not exceeding 0,04%).
Among other consumer characteristics of steel are:
- The elastic modulus is 210 GPA;
- Relative tensile elongation — 21%;
- Impact strength of 120 kJ/m3;
- The limit strength of 460 MPa;
- The plastic limit is 220 MPa;
After annealing of the AISI 405 steel (1.4002) has a hardness of 180 N. V. Sheet hire this steel is characterized by the Poisson’s ratio of 0.28, and has a coefficient of thermal diffusion of 8.5 m2/s.
Application
The ferrite, formed in the microstructure of the steel determines its high plastic properties. Sheet metal lends itself well to plastic processing, allowing for production of steel AISI 405 (1.4002) complex body parts, the operation of which is expected in corrosive environments. According to the international classification PREN index counter material pitting corrosion is 13, and this corresponds to the successful resistance of corrosion-mechanical wear up to a temperature of 550…6000 C.
Wire made of this steel can be subjected to a single drawing, and then successfully be processed by the technology of cold volumetric stamping, including and without requiring the use of intermediate annealing. Mechanical machining is usually done at low speed and feed that is due to chip welding on the workpiece.
To buy a round, sheet or wire for stainless mild steel AISI 405 (1.4002), using the best offer from the company Electrocentury-steel is expedient and economically profitable. Supply rental is of high quality, and deliveries are made promptly, and in a wide range of assortment.
