Production and application

Steel grade 07X21G7AN5 (EP222) is a chrome-manganese-nickel alloy of austenitic class. It is melted in electric arc furnaces. Also use ESHP and VDP. Production is regulated by the following GOSTs: 5632-72 and 5949-75, as well as TU 14-1-1141-74; 14-1-952-74; 14-1-2476-78; 14-1-2455-78; 14-1-3041-80. This steel is used for welded, non-welded and brazed constructions that operate at tº from -253 to 400°C (chains, spindles, hangers in oxygen units, flanges, fasteners, thin-walled brazed and welded fragments obtained by hot and cold deformation, threaded joints, increased pigging capacity).

Corrosion resistance

In the quenched state, this steel resists intergranular corrosion according to AM and AMU methods, GOST 6032-89. It is resistant in industrial, marine atmospheres and in steam and water condensate.

Technological parameters

Steel is available for cold and hot forging and forging. Hot deformation is carried out at 1150-900°C. Cold pressure treatment is carried out in several stages. The steel retains its structural stability during cooling from +20°C to -253°C.

Welding

This steel is well welded by argon-arc method (with or without an additive), automatic under flux AN-26, manual electric arc. For additive material suitable wire Sv-10H16N25AM6 and Sv-08H15N23V7G7M2. Especially well welded with such stainless grades as 07X16H6, 12X21H5T, 12X18H10T and heat resistant alloys (XH60VT, XH77T1O). For welding with heat-resistant nickel alloys recommend a welding wire Sv06H15N60M15, and with stainless steels - Sv-04H19N11MZ. In this case the welded joints do not require heat treatment.

Note to the table: the steel is technological when soldering. If it is compared with 12X18N10T it has much less tendency to hot cracking in a stressed state when brazing with copper-silver brazing alloys, as well as with tin, copper, zinc based solders.
