Grade 08Cr17T (EI 645).

Refers to heat-resistant corrosion-resistant steels of ferrite class. Intensive scale formation in the air begins at temperatures above 900 °C. It is used in the manufacture of chemical apparatus and parts used in oxidizing environments. This steel is resistant to the action of atmospheric and soil moisture, the action of sea water, where pitting corrosion is possible. It is used in production of heat exchangers, welded structures, pipes not subjected to impact mechanical loads and operated at temperatures not lower than -20 °С, for production of equipment in brewing, food, soap, light industries, as a cladding layer when rolling two-layer hot-rolled corrosion-resistant sheets. Analogues: 12Х18Н10Т and 12Х18Н9Т, 12Х17, including for welded structures.

Technological characteristics of 08Cr17T alloy.

Features of heat treatment — Details of the steel ferritic class hardened at t ° 760−780 ° C with an ageing rate of 30 min + 1 min per 1 mm of thickness of the material with cooling in water to achieve maximum ductility and eliminate the tendency to fire. Welded steel items of 08Cr17T grade are annealed at 720−780°С for 1−2 hours with air cooling. Carry out tempering of products at temp. 450−550 ° C is not allowed, because this can lead to a «475-degree brittleness.

Tendency to temper embrittlement — Steel is prone to temper embrittlement at temperatures of. 475 °C during prolonged curing.

Weldability — The steel is limited weldable. Satisfactory mechanical properties can be obtained when welding items that are small in thickness up to 2−3 mm. For automatic submerged-arc welding under flux ANF-14 and AN-26 use wire grades Sv-05H25N12Tu or Sv-08H20N9G7T.

Forging temperature — at the beginning — 1220 °C, at the end — 900 °C. With a cross-section of up to 350 mm, air cooling.
