Production and application
Steel 08Х17Н15М3Т (ЭИ580) refers to high-alloyed alloys of austenitic class. Production is regulated by the following GOST: 18 143−72; 18 907−73; 25 054−81; 5632−72; 5949−75; 7350−77; 9940−81 and 9941−81. Such steel is used in welded structures working in contact with phosphoric and acetic acid and other aggressive media, in urea synthesis columns, when the use of steel with a lower proportion of nickel causes selective corrosion on S-ferrite areas.

Corrosion resistance
GOST: 5582−75, 5949−75, 7350−77, 9940−81, 9941−81 standardize resistance to intergranular corrosion according to AM and AMU method GOST 6032−89 after annealing at t° 650 °C (1 hour). This steel has 1 point of corrosion resistance (less than 0.1 mm/year) in 10% formic acid at 100 °C; in 50% citric acid at tº boiling 5−25% H2SO4 to 75 °C; in 50% acetic acid to 100 °C and in 80% to 80 °C; in 25% HPO4 at tº boiling and in 40% to 100 °C., Steels 17−13−2 (3) and 17−15−3 are more resistant to pitting corrosion in chloride-containing media than chromium-nickel steels 18−10 due to the molybdenum in their composition. Mo impairs resistance to intergranular corrosion in oxidizing environments.
Treatment
Hot deformation occurs in the 1200−850°C range. For ingots containing 5-ferrite, the t° of the beginning of deformation is lowered. This steel allows a high degree of cold deformation.
Welding
Grades such as 08X17H15MZT, 08X17H13M2T, 10X17H13M2T (3T), easily welded by automatic, manual, arc and gas-electric method. For RDS welding electrodes НЖ-13, НИАТ-1 and ЭА-400/10У are recommended; for automatic welding — wire Sv-04Х19Н11 Sv-06Х19Н10МЗТ with fluxes AN-26, ANF-6, ANF-14. For ADS and submerged-arc welding — additive Sv-01Kh19N18G10AM4.
