Alloy 3 M

Characterized by particularly high strength and corrosion resistance. All high-strength titanium alloys are based on a ternary titanium-aluminum-vanadium base, and high-temperature titanium alloys are based on a titanium-aluminum-molybdenum base. Because of the well-established trend towards multicomponent alloying, most modern titanium grades contain aluminum, molybdenum and vanadium at the same time. Aluminum is the major alloying element; it is as important to titanium alloys as carbon is to iron.

Relevance

Titanium and its alloys are wear-resistant, paramagnetic, satisfactory for welding, which plays an important role in modern technical branches. Owing to its merits, titanium has great prospects for application in such areas as aircraft engineering, shipbuilding, rocket and missile engineering, food, chemical and transport machine building. Its exceptional properties are of great interest as a structural material for spacecraft.
