Technical characteristics

Silicon bronze is part of a subgroup of high-strength bronzes. In addition to silicon these alloys are alloyed with iron, zinc, manganese. Well deformed in cold and hot condition; have high strength at elevated temperatures, good anti-friction properties and corrosion resistance.

These alloys are similar to silicon red brass, but unlike brass, silicon bronze contains very low concentrations of zinc. Silicon bronzes are designated UNS C47000 - C66100. Red cast silicon alloys are designated C87300 - C87900.

Applications

Sturdy thin-walled castings, brush holders, levers, brackets, terminals, valve stems, medium-strength general purpose castings.

Normalization, hardening, annealing, tempering
