Rolled Bronze GOST
Rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated, Mark Twain once joked. In similar words, we can parry the claim that the «age of bronze» ended in ancient times. Modern bronze alloys have found their widest application in the twenty-first century.
General characteristics
The basis of bronze is considered to be copper and tin. But in addition to these elements copper may contain aluminum, beryllium, zirconium and other elements. According to chemical composition bronzes are divided into tin-free and tin-plated. Casting alloys and workable by pressure are distinguished separately. A distinctive feature of the bronzes is considered to be the corrosion resistance, excellent processing capability, durability and low price.
Classification
Tin bronzes contain more than 4% Sn and give the minimum shrinkage during the casting, which is extremely important for the production of quality castings. Aluminum bronze can include up to 8% Al, it is easily bent, stamped and cold-rolled. All bronzes are characterized by remarkable corrosion resistance, mechanical strength and cheapness. One of the cheapest is the silicon bronze. Beryllium bronze contains 2% Be and in addition to its strength, corrosion resistance and excellent workability is characterized by high elasticity, as well as by the fact that it does not spark when hitting another metal. The latter quality is especially important when working in explosive environments.
Advantages
The production of tin bronze was mastered by man at the dawn of its history. This alloy is distinguished by its corrosion resistance, low melting point, inexpensive production technology and excellent processability. It is quite ductile, biologically inert metal with good antifriction qualities. It can be easily stamped, drilled, bent, cut, has excellent casting properties. Most bronze metals (except aluminum) can be easily welded and brazed with special solders. After recycling the bronze can be recycled and reused. Numerous advantages make it quite popular today.
Production
Chemical composition of bronze alloys is regulated by GOST 5017−74; 18 175−78; 493−79. The production specifications are in accordance with GOST 24 301−93. Castings are made by centrifugal or coker casting. The weight of made to order products can be from several grams to several tons. Evek GmbH sells the following types of rolled bronze from warehouse: rounds, strips, wires, ingots, tubes, hexagons. The prices are most affordable.
Marking
Bronze alloys are marked with the abbreviation Br, followed by capital letters of alloying elements and numbers of their percentage content. For example, BrOF 10−1 is a tin-phosphorus bronze containing 10% tin and 1% phosphorus. BrOTSS-5−5-5 (tin bronze, alloyed with zinc and lead),
Applications
Construction, engineering, transport, energy, water supply etc. Wrought alloys serve as the basis for liners, bushings, contacts — corrosion-resistant and durable. Rolled bronze is excellent in conditions of high pressure and temperature. Bronze produces bearings, shut-off valves, gears, nuts, gaskets, washers, bolts, bushings, shafts springs. Silicon bronze is good for springing. Beryllium bronze does not spark on impact, which is very important in explosive environments. «Admiralty bronze» — zinc-alloyed, particularly resistant to corrosion in salt water, used in shipbuilding for production of propellers and superstructures, etc. Aluminum bronze — lightweight, strong, high-tech is relevant in shipbuilding, automobile and aircraft construction. Good electrical conductivity of bronze is important in power engineering. Bronze is used for casting candlesticks, lamp stands, household items, statuettes, monuments. Bronze is very durable and can serve for several generations.
Range
Bronze sleeve and insert. Refers to expendable parts. They are malleable, wear out quickly, but they protect more responsible parts of mechanisms. As a consumable material, bronze extends the life of equipment. The bushings are made of the following grades: BrAZh, BrO5Ts5C5, BrOCS 5−5-5, etc .
Bronze band. It is produced from brands: BrA7; BrB2; BrBNT; BrB2m, BrB2T; BrOF; BrOF 7−0,2; BrOF 6,5−0,15; BrOC4−3; BrOCS, BrKMC; BrKMC 3−1.
The sheet is characterized by sufficient hardness and strength, resistance to moisture and chemicals, good electrical and thermal conductivity, is widely used in many industries. It is made of such grades as BrX1, BrX1Cr, МН2.5ККрХ.
Bronze wire. It is produced from the following grades: BrAMZ9−2; BrAJNMZ 8,5−4-5−1,5; BrB2,5; BrB2; BrNHK 2,5−0,7−0,6; BrOF6,5−0,4; BrOZ4−3; BrKMZ3−1BrHKrK; BrX0,7.
