Fine tungsten wire requirements

Tungsten wire is supplied in grade and processing variants intended for different electrical, thermal, lighting and vacuum-component requirements. Performance depends on purity, dopants, diameter, drawing history, annealing, surface and finished component design. A diameter range or legacy grade name alone does not guarantee behavior in a particular filament, heater, cathode or spring.

Diameter, surface and coil details

State the accepted grade and standard, nominal diameter in microns and tolerance, surface condition, annealed or as-drawn condition, straight or coiled form and quantity. Provide spool or coil dimensions, unit weight or length, straightness where applicable, tensile or elongation requirements, electrical resistance or resistivity test conditions, cleanliness, marking and certificate type. For a finished electrical or thermal component, add the operating temperature, atmosphere, loading, geometry and service cycle for engineering review.
