Production and application

Steel 08X21H6M2T (EP54) is a chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy of austenitic-ferritic class. Production is regulated by the following GOSTs: 25 054-81; 5582-75; 5632-72; 5949-75; 7350-77; and TU: 14-1-894-74 и 14-3-59-72. It is used in the manufacture of rectification columns, packed, extraction, blowing and other vessels, tanks, storages, etc . Such steel successfully works in the oxidation-reduction environments of acid production, organic synthesis, pulp and paper industry. It is used in the manufacture of acetic acid, melamine, sulfuric acid (92% H2SO4 + up to 7% SO2 at 50-60 ° C), caprolactam, urea, phosphoric acid (80% H3P04 at 100 ° C). It is also used in obtaining ammonium chloride (by evaporation), sulfite as well as sulfate pulp (filtering equipment) and ammonium sulfate with an admixture of sulfuric acid up to 20 g / l, at 100-110 ° C.

Corrosion resistance

According to the following GOST: 5582-75, 5949-75 and 7350-77, this steel is resistant to intergranular corrosion when tested by AM method GOST 6032-89 (24 hours in a control solution). Samples are tested after heat treatment specified in GOST, as well as after provoking heating to 500ºС (1 hour) with cooling in the air. Such steel, as well as alloy Kh17H13M2T, has 1 point of resistance in 98% acetic, 50% citric and 20% formic acid at tº boiling; in 90% formic acid at 40°C; in H3P04 of different concentrations, in concentrated H2SO4, and also has high resistance to corrosion cracking in MgCl2 solution.

Technological parameters

Hot deformation is carried out at 1150-850°C. Steel can be bent, stamped in hot and cold states, its manufacturability is the same as for 10Х17Н13М2Т. It is quenched in water at 1050°C and the same treatment is used for deburring after cold and hot deformation.

Welding

When manual and automatic argon arc and electric arc welding electrodes from alloys 06X21H6M2T with coating ANV-17, as well as electrodes Sv-04H19H11MZ with coating UONI-13. Welds are similar to those when welding 10X18H10T, have the mechanical strength of the base metal, resistant to intergranular corrosion and do not require heat treatment.
