Production and application
Steel 10Х14Г14Н4Т (ЭИ711) is a chromium-manganese-nickel alloy of austenitic class. It is melted in open electric furnaces. Production is regulated by the following GOSTs: 25 054−81; 5632−72; 5582−75; 5949−75; 7350−77; 4405−75 as well as TU14−1-170−72. It is used in the manufacture of cryogenic equipment and welded equipment for chemical production of low aggressiveness, parts of furnace fittings and heat exchangers with operating temperatures up to 700 °C (screens, sheet parts of furnace rollers, muffles). This alloy is an economically alloyed analogue of X18H10 steel.

Corrosion resistance
According to GOST 5949−75, 7350−77, 5582−84 control of steel for resistance to intergranular corrosion is conducted by AM and AMU methods GOST 6032−89 (duration of exposure in control solution 15 and 8 hours, respectively). Tests begin after provoking heating to 650 °C, 1 hour with cooling in the air. Such steel has 1 point of resistance in 5−10% HNO3 up to 80 °C and in 60−65% HNO3 at 20 °C; in10% acetic acid and 10% H3P04 up to 80 °C; in tap water at 85 °C, in detergents, etc. п. This steel is used for high pressure oxygen pipelines and in the manufacture of welded casings and large pieces of gas liquefaction equipment.
Processing operations
This steel is workable in both hot and cold working conditions. Punching, forging and rolling can be done at 1150−850°C. This steel can be processed well when hot and cold. This steel can be welded with all welds with satisfactory results. For manual electric arc welding, the electrodes based on X18H9 wire are used.
