Duplex stainless steel supply
Duplex stainless steels have a mixed ferritic-austenitic structure, but the word “duplex” does not define the grade. Common purchase descriptions include 2205 with UNS S31803 or S32205 and super-duplex 2507 with UNS S32750. These designations must not be treated as interchangeable without checking the purchaser-approved specification.
Plate, bar, pipe and tube requirements
For plate or sheet, state the ASTM specification, UNS grade, thickness, width, length, finish and tolerances. For bar, pipe or tube, provide the applicable product standard, outside diameter or nominal pipe size, wall or schedule, length, seamless or welded construction and condition.

Testing and documentation
Specify heat treatment, mechanical properties, corrosion or intermetallic-phase testing, nondestructive examination, material certificate and traceability when required. ASTM A240/A240M applies to plate, sheet and strip, while ASTM A790/A790M covers seamless and welded ferritic-austenitic stainless steel pipe; use the standard that matches the ordered product.
