General characteristics

Ferritic steel of heat and corrosion resistant class 08Cr13. Used for parts of high ductility working under shock loads (hammers, valves of hydraulic presses), as well as for products working in slightly aggressive environments (outdoors, in contact with aqueous solutions of salts of organic acids at room temperature), steam turbine blades, valves, bolts and pipes. Shape of delivery: sheet, strip, circle, wire, pipe. Delivery type — bars, including shaped is produced according to the following GOSTs: 5949−75; 2590−88; 2591−88; 2879−88; 18,968−73 and 19,442−74. Sheet thick GOST 7350−77. Sheet thin GOST 5582−75. Forgings and forged blanks GOST 1133−71; 18 968−73 and 25 054−81. Strip GOST 4405−75; 103−76 and 18 968−73. Bar calibrated GOSTs 8559−75; 8560−78 and 7417−75. Bar polished and silver GOSTs 14 955−77 and 18 907−73. Tubes GOST 9941−81 and 9940−81. Steel grade 12X13, 12Х18Н9Т are substitutes.

Technological properties

Starting temperature of forging: +1220°, ending temperature +850°С. The products up to 30 cm thickness are cooled in the air in the stacks. It is prone to temper embrittlement at 400−500o C. Steel has limited weldability. They use RSD, ADF under flux, ADF and CTS welding. Preheating and final heat treatment depending on the type of welding and the purpose of construction are used. Cutting ability — Kv tv. spl = 0,7 and Kv b. st = 1,4 in hardened and tempered state at HB 149−159 and σc = 590 MPa.

Corrosion resistance

Type of corrosion Medium t,°C Duration, h Points of resistance
General By its corrosive properties it is close to 12Cr13. For increase of corrosion resistance and plasticity of welded joint it is recommended to subject a detail to heat treatment according to the regime: heating to 960−1000 °С, cooling in the air, tempering at 680−720 °С, or only tempering at 680−720 °С
Spot By its corrosive properties it is close to 12Cr13. To increase corrosion resistance and plasticity of the welded joint it is recommended to heat treat the part according to the following regime: heating to 960−1000 °C, cooling in the air, tempering at 680−720 °C, or tempering only at 680−720 °C
Corrosion cracking As for its corrosive properties, it is similar to 12X13. To increase corrosion resistance and plasticity of the welded joint it is recommended to heat-treat the part according to the following regime: heating to 960−1000 °C, cooling in the air, tempering at 680−720 °C, or tempering only at 680−720 °C
Intergranular After hardening and provoking heating the alloy must not show tendency to intergranular crystallization when tested according to GOST 6032−89 B and VU methods
