Composition

Steel of martensitic class 40X13 consists mainly of iron and chromium. According to GOST 5632-72, the composition of 12-14% Cr and 0.35-0.44% carbon. The alloy is alloyed with such elements as Si, Mn, Ni - 0.6% each, thousandths of phosphorus. The rest is iron. It is melted in open electric arc furnaces and induction furnaces. Substitute: 30X13.

Quality

Steel is heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant. Pipes of this class are resistant to soil and atmospheric moisture, mildly aggressive environments, have high tensile strength, are ductile, but poorly welded. They are not subject to deformation under load at t° up to 450 °C.

Production

Cold plastic deformation of pipes is limited. Hot deformation temperature is 1100 - 900 °C. Rapid heating and cooling can cause material cracking. Therefore, preheating of tubes to 850 °C and slow cooling in the furnace is recommended. Pipes are produced in both round and profiled sections. Sections, including shaped sections, are produced in accordance with the following GOSTs: 2879-69, 2590-71, 2591-71, 5949-75.

Application of pipes
