Composition

Steel 40X13 martensitic grade bars, rounds, wires consist mainly of iron and chromium. According to GOST 5632-72, the composition is 12-14% Cr and 0,35-0,44% carbon. The alloy is alloyed with such elements as Si, Mn, Ni - 0.6% each, thousandths of phosphorus. Iron makes up the rest. It is melted in open electric arc furnaces, induction furnaces. Substitute: 30X13.

Quality

Steel 40X13 is heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant. Bar, circle, wire of this grade are resistant to soil and atmospheric moisture, mildly aggressive media, plastic, have significant tensile strength, but poorly welded. They are not subject to deformation under load at t° up to 450 °C.

Manufacturing

Calibrated bar is produced according to the following GOST: 7417-75, 8559-75, 8560-78. Grinding rod and silver - GOST: 14 955-77, 18 907-73. Wire: GOST 18 143-72. Forged blanks and forgings - GOST 1133-71. Cold plastic deformation is limited. The temperature range of hot deformation is 1100 - 900 °C. Rapid heating and cooling can cause cracking of material. Therefore, preheating of tubes to 850 °C and gradual cooling in the furnace is recommended. In the manufacture of medical instruments, stage hardening with cooling in an alkali solution is used.

The manufacture of measuring and medical tools, springs, household items, parts of steam generators, compressors, working at t ° 400-450 ° C in slightly aggressive environments.
