Alloy KhN58 B (EP795)

Nickel-based steel KhN58 B is melted by open induction method. It is used in the manufacture of welding equipment that operates in HNO3 solutions, including in the presence of fluorine ions, for example, in melting and nitric acid pickling solutions. It is used in the manufacture of welded pickling baths. The following specifications are provided for steel CHN58 B: 14-131-224-75; 14-1-2715-79; 14-1-4362-87; 14-1-4363-87; 14-131-756-88; GOST 5632-72.

Corrosion resistance

TU 14-131-224-75, 14-1-4362-87, 14-1-4363-87 GOST 3239-81 standardize resistance to intergranular corrosion after provoking tempering at t ° 700 °C (half an hour) with air cooling, and also after testing by DU method GOST 6032-89. Welded joints have resistance to intergranular corrosion in the pickling solution of 16-18% HNO3 + 4% HF at t° 50-60°C. After quenching the alloy corrosion rate in boiling 10-58% HNO3 no more than 0, 2 mm in 10 years.

Processing

The alloy is subjected to cold and hot deformation by almost all methods of forming. The temperature range of hot deformation is 1200-950°C. Heat treatment consists of heating the metal to 1070-1100°C (3-5 minutes/mm maximum cross-section) and cooling it rapidly in air or water.

Welding

This alloy is welded by manual argon arc welding and electric arc welding (the latter is preferable). During argon arc welding an additive is used as a basic alloy, that is, CrN58 B in the form of wire. Arc welding is carried out with FX-26 and FX-13 electrodes. Welding is carried out in a mode of low linear energy (0.6-1.5 kJ/μm). Welded joints are not prone to formation of cold and hot cracks, are resistant to intergranular corrosion in fluoride-nitrogen solutions.
