Properties and application
Chromium and manganese alloyed structural steel 18Crg, 16MnCr5, 16hg can be subjected to different types of heat treatment. After tempering they have the following physical and mechanical properties:
- Ultimate strength, MPa - 1000;
- yield strength, MPa - 700;
- Relative elongation, % - 21;
- Relative narrowing, % - 62;
- Brinell hardness - not more than 207.
Rolled sheets and forgings from the considered steel grades are subjected to carburizing and then used in the manufacture of small parts operating in conditions of high contact friction loads. The steels are prone to temper embrittlement and are also demanding in terms of forging temperature intervals.
