Alloying
Titanium strength properties depend on the presence of impurities in its composition that can be divided into two groups: 1) impurities of introduction: nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, carbon and 2) impurities of substitution: silicon and iron. The presence of oxygen at a concentration of 0.1-0.5% has little effect on the ductility of titanium, but at 0.7%, titanium completely loses its capacity for plastic deformation. Nitrogen increases strength limits and reduces ductility at the same time.
