AISI 430 Ti grade
This is a nickel-free ferritic stainless steel of general application stabilized with titanium. It has a balanced chemical composition; high corrosion resistance, resistance to intergranular corrosion. Operable at temperatures up to 850 °C. It is classified as heat-resistant.

The presence of aluminum and titanium, combined with a low percentage of carbon, result in high ductility and strength similar to nickel-containing grades (304). When heated and welded, this stabilizes the structure and protects the welded joints from intergranular corrosion. Active carbide formation only begins at t° over 1000 °C. In comparison with austenitic nickel-containing grades this steel is insensitive to intergranular corrosion at 500-800 °C and is also much less sensitive to chloride stress cracking.
Relevance
AISI 430 Ti corrosion resistance is similar to 12X18H10T, 08X17 steels. Unlike nickel-containing austenitic steels, chromium low-carbon ferritic steels are resistant in sulfur-containing media. The minimal coefficient of thermal expansion makes this steel advantageous for temperature fluctuations, e.g. in heat exchange systems. Having relatively low specific heat capacity, AISI 430 Ti is able to overheat and cool faster, thus avoiding possible inertial overheating.

Welding
Can be welded by all methods and does not lose corrosion resistance at weld spots if post-welding treatment: passivation, etching/cleaning. Arc welding in an inert gas atmosphere requires minimum energy consumption. Welded surface is located under the welding tool. Wire Sv-07Cr25Ni13, Sv-08Cr25Ni13BTu, 309L or AISI 430 Ti serves as filler material. After welding remove scale, process discoloration places with etching or brushes of stainless steel and passivate by cold 10-20% HNO3 solution, followed by washing and drying.
