Alloy 1420 (01420)
Designation
Description
Alloy 1420 is used: for the manufacture of components transport engineering; for use in aircraft structures (welded hermetic compartments of the edging of the Windows, components, etc.); buildings of the missile; in the land transport (forged wheels).
Note
Sredneprochny corrosion resistant high modulus welded alloy system Al-Mg-Li low density (d = 2,47 g/cm3, E = 78 GPA; properties in the direction of D: σin ≥ 420 MPa, σ0,2 ≥ 270 MPa, δ ≥ 9%).
The use of alloy for the aerospace the reduced mass of the riveted construction to 12%, weld to 24%. Effective use of alloy 1420 for the manufacture of stampings instead of alloy AK6 in connection with a reduced 10% density, high fatigue characteristics and corrosion resistance, modulus of elasticity.
Modification of alloy 1420 — 1421 and 1423, which optionally is alloyed with scandium and differ only in the content of magnesium.
Standards
Chemical composition
According to OST 1 90048-90 the chemical composition is given for alloy 1420. The mass fraction of each other impurity (not regulated) is ≤ 0.05%, the total mass fraction of other impurities is ≤ 0.15%. In the alloy grade 1420 for welded products, the sodium content should not exceed 0.0015%. In the manufacture of molded semi-finished products from the 1420 alloy, a lower limit of lithium content of 1.90% is established. Beryllium is not determined by chemical analysis, but is introduced by calculation.
According to OST 1 90262-81 the allowable content of hydrogen in the metal should not exceed 1.0 cm 3 per 100 g of metal.
