Bronze slab

"Nothing makes a thing beautiful except the presence of the beautiful in a thing." Plato.

Advantages of the bronze plate

Reliability, durability, relatively low cost make the bronze plate in demand in many industries. It combines strength, wear resistance, aesthetic appeal. It is characterized by exceptional corrosion resistance, which is superior in comparison to many grades of stainless steel. Bronze plate is resistant to prolonged exposure to atmospheric moisture and seawater. It is nonmagnetic, ductile, easy to forge, has excellent electrical and thermal conductivity of its manufacturability is far superior to stainless alloys. It can be easily rolled, cut, soldered with any solder except aluminum bronze, easily welded. A particularly tough plate alloyed with nickel and beryllium. It is distinguished by its strength and resilience, which can be further improved by an additional heat treatment.

Production

Bronze slab is semi-finished material with rectangular cross-section thicker than 25 mm. Production is regulated by GOST 18 175 and TU 48-21-779-85. Bronze alloyed with beryllium, aluminum, silicon + manganese, chrome, chrome + zirconium are used depending on the technological tasks. Plate surface should be smooth without cavities or slag inclusions. Traces of broaching or minor defects are allowed, not exceeding the limits specified by GOST.

Marking

By production method By precision of manufacturing By state of material: By the form of section: By length

P - pressed (hot-deformed) - usually on the basis of tin-free bronze;

D - cold-deformed.

B - high,

P - elevated;

H - normal;

X - without indication of manufacturing accuracy and/or delivery condition.

P - semi-hard; M - soft;

T - hard;

O - especially hard.

RR - rectangular

MD - measured length;

KD - multiple of length;

Hard and extra hard plate is hardened after quenching by 30-40%,

Application

Of elastic and wear-resistant alloys such as BrKMts3-1 produce parts for the needs of mechanical engineering and shipbuilding. Thanks to the good combination of electrical and technological qualities, the bronze plate is used today for the production of non-magnetic armature parts, generator fragments, locators, in shipbuilding - guide parts of engines, propeller blades, rudders, etc . Thanks to excellent resistance to atmospheric precipitations, bronze plate is used today in construction. It is hard to do without it when decorating facades of houses or interiors of residential premises. It is essential for the production of non-magnetic parts of complex shapes. The chrome-alloyed bronze plate is used for casting of titanium and its alloys.
