General Characteristics

Bronze is an alloy based on copper and tin, alloyed with aluminum, silicon, beryllium, lead and other elements. These alloys are divided into wrought and foundry alloys. The main types of cast bronzes

The castings are denser and have higher specific strength. Alloying with phosphorus optimizes their foundry qualities.

Production

The castings have the form of forgings, which after quenching with tempering are supplied with the required strength category (KP) according to GOST 8479-70. The forgings have a relatively rough approximation to the shape of the finished product, which needs minimum machining. Constructive economic forms of forgings allow machining workpieces with the highest productivity and less waste. Centrifugal casting produces bronze castings (rings, bushings, inserts, wheels, rings) with weight up to 2 tons and cross-section up to 1500 millimeters. They are supplied with a specified allowance. Castings produced by burn-out models and by casting-frame method (sliders, bumpers, flat parts, thrusters , etc.) with weight up to two tons and dimensions up to 2000 mm. The bronze grades are in accordance with the requirements of GOST 613-79, GOST 493-79.
