Bronze hex bar for machined components
Hexagonal bronze bar should be specified by the actual alloy and across-flats size, not by a nominal round diameter. Provide bar length, dimensional tolerance, straightness, surface condition and required quantity. Bronze grades differ in machinability, strength and corrosion behavior; selection depends on the application and the offered temper.
Specification and documentation
ASTM B150/B150M covers certain aluminum bronze rod, bar and shapes; ASTM B139/B139M covers certain phosphor bronze rods, bars and shapes. The applicable standard depends on the alloy and form. Include the standard edition or approved drawing and any mill test report requirement.
