Classes

Two classes of pipe are regulated in the Astm B619 specification:

• Class I - welded with annealing, and welded with re-firing - in the alloy and after welding.
• Class II - welded, cold-treated, and re-fired-in-alloy.

Astm B619 parameters for welded pipe specified in SI or inch-pound units shall be treated individually as standard. The values specified in each system may not be exact equivalents. Thus, each system should be used independently. Combining values from two systems may result in inconsistency with the standard.

Heat Treatment

All pipes according to Astm B619 must be fired with mechanical descaling. When processed in air, descaling is not necessary.
