Steel 42Х2ГСНМ (VC-1)
Designation
Description
42Х2ГСНМ steel is used: for the production of forging ingots; solid-rolled rings for different purposes.
Note
High-strength steel.
Standards
Chemical composition
Fe is the basis.
According to TU 14-1-1083-74 the chemical composition is presented for steel grade VKS-1-VD. The total content of sulfur and phosphorus in the steel should not be more than 0.022%. The residual copper content should not be more than 0.15%. The content of manganese in the initial melting should be 1.20-1.50%. If the content of manganese in the original melting does not meet the specified limits, it is allowed to conduct its control after vacuum-arc remelting according to the following procedure: after stripping the corona of the ingot, the chips are taken from three places along the height of the ingot. The shavings are averaged and analyzed for manganese. Its content should be 0,75-1,00%. Control of manganese is made on the first and last ingots after vacuum-arc remelting.
According to TU 14-1-4461-88, the chemical composition of steel VKS-1 must comply with the standards specified in Table 2 (Appendix 1), sent on request by the Central Research Institute of Chemical Technology named after Bardin. The sulfur content of sulfur is not more than 0.011%, phosphorus is not more than 0.015%, while the total content of sulfur and phosphorus should not be more than 0.022%. The residual copper content should not be more than 0.15%. With the consent of the consumer, it is allowed - up to 0.20%. In the finished sheets the following deviations in chemical composition from the norms indicated in Table 2 are allowed: carbon + 0.02 / -0.010%; tungsten ± 0.10%; manganese, silicon, chromium and nickel ± 0.050%; molybdenum ± 0.030%; vanadium +0.020%. At the request of the customer, specified in the order, the sheets are supplied from the metal of electroslag remelting (VKS-1Sh), while the content in steel BKC-1Sh sulfur - no more than 0.006%, phosphorus - no more than 0.015%, with the total content of sulfur and phosphorus - not more than 0.020%.
