Steel OS
Designation
Description
OS steel is used: for the manufacture of rolled billets of square or circular cross-section designed for the production of axes of wheel pairs of locomotives, electric trains, disulphoton, cars Railways and subway trains, special railway rolling stock of 1520 mm.
Note
Blanks of axles of rolling stock are manufactured from steel obtained by the open-hearth, basic oxygen or electric arc method.
The steel must be subjected to secondary treatment by blowing an inert gas. By agreement with consumer it is allowed manufacture of the blanks from steel without secondary treatment with an inert gas.
Standards
Chemical composition
Fe is the basis.
According to GOST 4728-2010 the casting composition for the ladle sample of steel grade OS is given. The mass fraction of aluminum should not be more than 0.035%. As agreed by the manufacturer with the consumer, it is allowed to set the lower value of the aluminum content. The total content of sulfur and phosphorus in steel cast in ingots is no more than 0.065%, and for continuous casting - no more than 0.045%. The maximum deviations in the mass fraction of chemical elements in the finished axial billets are: for carbon + 0.030 / -0.020%, manganese + 0.100 / -0.050%, silicon ± 0.050%, sulfur and phosphorus ± 0.0050% for each.
