Steel 76 (M76)
Designation
Description
76 steel is used: for the manufacture of rails types of RP50, RP65 and РП75 broad gauge for the tracks of industrial railway transport for railway tracks and turnouts of industrial enterprises; types of rails R50, R65, R65K and R75 designed for ribbon and continuous Railways and for the production of turnouts; for the production of grooved tram rails of types Тв60 Тв65 and high quality.
Note
M76 — the steel open-hearth rail.
K76 — steel rail of the Converter.
Eh76 — electric furnace steel rail.
Standards
Chemical composition
Fe is the basis.
According to GOST 24182-80 in the rails made of Kerch ores, the phosphorus content is not more than 0.040%, sulfur is not more than 0.050%, arsenic is not more than 0.15%. The rails of Group II must be made of calm open-hearth steel, deoxidized with aluminum or manganese-aluminum alloy.
According to GOST R 51685-2000, the mass fraction of residual elements - chromium, nickel and copper, is not more than 0.15% of each, with a total mass fraction of these elements not exceeding 0.40%. The mass fraction of sulfur and phosphorus is indicated for steel M76. In the steel grade K76 phosphorus ≤ 0.030%, sulfur ≤ 0.035%. In steel grade E76 phosphorus ≤ 0.025%, sulfur ≤ 0.030%.
For a rail type P65K, the mass fraction of carbon should be 0.83-0.87%. At the same time, the numbers in the steel brand were replaced by 85.
According to TU 14-2-751-87 the chemical composition for steel M76 is given. In the mark designation the letter "M" indicates the method of steel smelting (open-hearth), and the figures - the average carbon content in hundredths of a percent.
