Alloy ВТ18
Designation
Description
Alloy ВТ18 used: for the production of bars, forgings, and stampings; parts operating for a long time (500 hours) at temperatures of 550−600 °C and short-term (part-time action) to 800 °C.
Note
ВТ18 alloy system Ti-Al-Zr-Mo-Nb-Si refers to high-strength and pseudo-alloys. High content of aluminum and zirconium provides a high creep resistance and high long-term strength at temperatures of 550−600 °C. This is one of the most heat-resistant titanium alloys. Plastic properties and workability during processing pressure of the alloy ВТ18 lower than that of alloys OT4.
Standards
Chemical composition
Ti is the basis.
According to OST 1 90013-81 the total content of other impurities is ≤ 0.30%. A partial replacement of molybdenum by tungsten in an amount not exceeding 0.30% is allowed. The total content of molybdenum and tungsten should not exceed the norms specified in the table for molybdenum. The total content of copper and nickel in an amount not exceeding 0.10% is allowed, including nickel not more than 0.080%. The total content of chromium and manganese in an amount not exceeding 0.15% is allowed. In the alloy grade VT18, the total content of molybdenum and niobium should be within the range of 0.90-2.10%.
