General Provisions

These specifications apply to seamless hot-, cold- and heat-deformed pipes made of steel grades 10, 20 and 20-PV. The products are used for boiler plants and pipelines with the limit pressure of steam and hot water up to 6.4 MPa at temperatures up to 400o C. The pipe is made:

  • - Of forged and rolled billets (GSTU 3-009, OST 14-21, TU 14-1-1529, TOU 14-1-1545, TOU 14-1-1-1787, TOU 14-1-2228, TOU 14-1-2560, TOU 14-1-5185);
  • - from continuous cast billets produced by Volzhsky Pipe Plant, JSC under TU 14-1-4944, TU 14-1-4992, TU 14-1-1529, TU 14-1-1545, TU 14-1-1578, TU 14-1-2560, TU 14-1-518514-1-4992, TU 14-1-5319 and Nizhny Tagil Iron & Steel Works under TU 14-1-5472;
  • - from vacuum degassed open-hearth furnace ingot produced by OJSC Nizhnedneprovsky Tube Rolling Plant (Ukraine).

Range

Tube, assortment according to TU 14-3-190-2004, is limited to certain dimensions of the outer / inner diameter and wall thickness. The hot-deformed tubes are made in diameter of 20...426 mm with wall thickness of 2.5...18 mm according to GOST 8732, and in diameter of 51 mm with wall thickness of 2.5 mm, 2.6 mm and 2.8 mm. Cold- and hot-deformed pipes are manufactured in dimensions as per GOST 8734. As agreed with customer, it is allowed to manufacture cold-deformed tubes in sizes in GOST 8732 range. Delivery of tubes of intermediate sizes in GOST 8732 and GOST 8734 assortment is allowed.

Technical requirements

Tubes are made of steel grades 10 and 20 with chemical composition (GOST 1050), of steel grade 20-PV - TU 14-1-5185. The tubes are to be supplied in heat-treated condition. Normalization is allowed.

In the case of determining mechanical properties on the samples in the form of a pipe section of full cross-section, the relative narrowing is not determined.

Note. In the case of determining the mechanical properties on the spigots, it is allowed to reduce the relative elongation by 3%. Bend impact test is conducted on tubing with wall thickness 6 mm and more. It is allowed to decrease the values of impact toughness on one specimen by

  • J/cm (1 kgsm/cm) from the specified norm on condition that the mean value of the test results of samples taken from one pipe is not lower than the specified norm. The yield strength of the metal at 350 °C shall not be less than:
  • for steel 10 - 130.0 MPa (13.0 kgf/mm2);
  • for steel 20 and 20-PV - 160.0 MPa (16.0 kgf/mm2).

Tests

The manufacturer shall be permitted to guarantee the metal yield strength at 350°C without testing, based on compliance with pipe manufacturing techniques and results of periodic tests. Pipes without leakage detection shall withstand test pressure (p, MPa) calculated according to formula given in GOST 3845 with allowable stress (σ, MPa) equal to 40% of yield strength for the given steel grade. The manufacturer shall be permitted to guarantee that the pipes supplied by him will withstand the hydraulic pressure test without testing.

Not permissible

The following features are not allowed in pipe metal macrostructure: cushion looseness, subcrustal gas bubbles, crusts, cracks, delaminations, flokens, foreign metal and non-metal inclusions, visible without magnifying devices.

Inspection

The Manufacturer may guarantee the compliance of pipe metal macrostructure with the above requirements without inspection, based on the results of 100% defectoscopy. The macrostructure shall be inspected for pipes with a wall thickness of 12 mm or more.
