Welding of cemented structural steel

Are you interested in welding of cemented structural steel? The supplier Evek GmbH offers you to buy cemented structural steel in any quantity at an affordable price in a wide range. We provide product delivery anywhere in the continent. The price is optimal.

General recommendations

The ability of cemented parts to weld significantly depends on the percentage of carbon: if it exceeds 0.25%, during heating of the metal during welding, its quenching characteristics increase, which leads to formation of quenching cracks and increased level of residual stresses after welding. Such steels must be tempered after welding. When welding cemented steels, pores, undercuts and other defects in the weld must not be allowed to appear. In this regard, the use of tacking is unacceptable: they are not welded completely, forming a weld of reduced strength.

Limitations

There are restrictions on the length of the weld, which cannot be less than 120-150 mm. Subsequent welding of defects is also undesirable because it leads to uncontrolled tempering of the metal. When multi-layer welding, each subsequent layer is imposed only in the case where the previous weld has not yet had time to cool to a temperature of 180 ... 200 °C and below. Low-carbon alloy steels that have been carburized before welding are necessarily heated to temperatures of 220 ... 260 ° C; this is especially important if welding of these steels should be performed at negative ambient temperatures.

Selection of welding electrodes

Despite the fact that all low-carbon steels lend themselves well to welding, it is necessary to use certain brands of welding electrodes in preparation: Evek GmbH offers to buy cemented structural alloyed steel products at an affordable price in a wide range. We provide delivery of products to any point on the continent. The price is optimal.

Electrode brand What steel is welded Note
E-42 and E-46 with rutile coating Low alloyed cemented Standard weld hardness
E-42A with fluoride-calcium coating as well as UONI-13 and OZS-2; High-alloyed low-carbon Standard weld hardness
T-590 and T-620 Cemented steel operating in high wear conditions. High weld hardness
OZN-400 and CP-4 Cementitious steel with high dynamic and impact loads Cams of camshafts, valve tappets etc.

If the cemented layer is of low depth, it is recommended to grind it before welding.
