General information
The marking of stamping steels in CIS, establishes
GOST 19265-74
The special marking has quick-cutting tool steels, which are produced according to technical norms and requirements of GOST
GOST 5950-2000
GOST 5950-2000 establishes the following marking of die steels. In the designation of grades, the first digits indicate the mass fraction of carbon in tenths of a percent. They may not be specified if the mass fraction of carbon is close to or greater than one. Letters mean: D for manganese, C for silicon, X for chromium, B for tungsten, F for vanadium, H for nickel, M for molybdenum, E for copper, T for titanium. Numbers after the letters mean the average mass fraction of the corresponding alloying element in whole units of percent. Absence of digits means that the alloying element in the composition is less than 1%, in some cases less than 1.8%. Sulfur and phosphorus content should not exceed 0. 030% (each element).
Alloying
4CrMoNFS is alloyed with 0. 05% zirconium and 0. 003% boron. Magnesium and calcium 0.03% of each element and 0.015% of zirconium are added to 05Cr12Ni6D2MFSGT by calculation. Residual nickel in all grades of steel, not alloyed with nickel, can contain up to 0.40%, in the steel grade 4X4VMFS - up to 0.60%. The residual copper content shall not exceed 0.30%.
Tungsten
Tungsten steels may be manufactured with residual molybdenum up to 0. 30% (up to 3% W) and up to 0. 5%Mo (over 3%W), in compliance with all other requirements of this standard. Steel not alloyed with tungsten, vanadium, molybdenum and titanium may contain up to 0.20% each of tungsten and molybdenum, up to 0.15% of vanadium and up to 0. 03% of titanium. In tungsten steels, partial replacement of tungsten by molybdenum is allowed at the rate: 1%W is equivalent to 1%Mo. If the steel contains up to 1.5%W, it can be partially replaced by 0.1%Mo, and if the steel contains more than 1.5%W, it can be partially replaced by 0.2%Mo,
Molybdenum
In molybdenum-containing steels, partial replacement of molybdenum by tungsten is allowed at the rate of: 1%Mo is equivalent to 2% tungsten. The amount of replaceable molybdenum in steels containing up to 1.2% Mo shall not exceed 0.1%, in steels containing more than 1.2% Mo - not more than 0.2%W. The total mass fraction of tungsten converted to molybdenum in the amount of molybdenum must comply with GOST ... Exceptions are alloy grades 5XHNM and 5X2MNF. The minimum mass fraction of molybdenum in 5XHNM must be 0.10%. The total mass fraction of molybdenum and tungsten converted to molybdenum shall be in the range of 0. 15% to 0.30%. The minimum molybdenum mass fraction in 5X2MNF must be 0.40%. The total mass fraction of Mo + W, in terms of molybdenum, shall be in the range of 0. 80% to 1.20%. If the steel alloy is more than 0.20% W, the steel should be labeled 5X2VMNF.
