Guide Norwegian corporation «Hydro» announced a decision regarding the establishment of a pilot project. Work pilot plant will be using technology that provides low power consumption and low carbon dioxide emissions. The estimated annual capacity of the plant is 75 000 tons of aluminum. Starting production in the second half of 2017. The company will be located on the territory of «Karmoy» aluminum plant. President of the «Hydro», Svein Brandtzeg, said that the company intends to invest the amount which would be a record in Norway over the last decade. Construction of the new company is planned for early 2016.
Another corporate project — construction of a new line at the plant «Grevenbroich». It will be produced rolled aluminum, used for the manufacture of car bodies. Investment in the project will amount to 130 mln. EURO. At the same time production capacity «Hydro» will increase to 200 000 tonnes from the present 50 000 tonnes. On the new rolling line will be made lightweight panel. These products will enable fuel economy and reduce carbon dioxide emission. According to preliminary estimates of its work will begin in the second half of 2016. The line will provide 25 new jobs.
Vice-president of the corporation, who is also head of the flat steel division, Kjetil Ebbesberg, confident in the success of the project. According to him, the corporation investments will decrease in the volume of emissions throughout the vehicle operation time. Also, capital investments will strengthen the position of the aluminum cluster in West Germany. In it, besides «Grevenbroich», includes a rolling mill «Alunorf» and the company «Neuss», which produces primary aluminum. The plans of the Norwegian corporation also includes investing 45 million. EURO in aluminum production «Neuss». Investments will create a plant for sorting, crushing and recycling of scrap.
