At the recently held «Solikamsk Magnesium Plant» meeting of the Board of Directors, was elected the new head. They became Igor Tikhov, which in the Russian media is associated with the owners of MMC «Norilsk Nickel». Prior to this appointment, Mr. Tikhov performing similar functions in another company — at JSC «Krasnoyarsk Nonferrous Metals Plant named after VN Gulidova» («Krastsvetmet»), and before that led the Department of processing non-ferrous metals in the above Norilsk Corporation. «Such an appointment may be indicative of the interest of shareholders," Norilsk Nickel «to the magnesium asset» — commented on the news of the market, experts of non-ferrous metals.

Open Joint Stock Company «Solikamsk Magnesium Plant» (Russian Federation Perm region) was founded in 1936 and is one of the oldest magnesium metal producers in the world. The share of Russian magnesium market covered by now, more than 50% of the total metal production. In addition to magnesium and its alloys, on the capacity of the plant is produced sponge titanium, niobium compounds, tantalum, rare earth metals, as well as several kinds of chemical products.
