Russia increased its production of copper

Volumes of production of refined copper in Russia increased by 1.04% compared to June 2009, in June 2010. This is according to the Federal Service of State Statistics.

The release wire for the year grew by 11.9% in the country, and flat-rolled products — by 42%. However, Russian production of rods and profiles of copper fell in June by 10.1%, and foil — 3%.

Overall, the first half of this year compared to the same period last year, production of refined copper in Russia grew by 14.2%, the wire — by 26.9%, flat-rolled products — by 37.8%, the foil — 69.2%. Release of rods and profiles decreased by 17.3%.

Earlier it was reported that Russia in January-May 2010 increased its exports of copper by 19.6% compared to the same period in 2009, to 210.3 thous. Tons.

Recall that Russia is one of the largest exporters of copper in the world. So, in 2009 the volume of exports almost doubled compared with the previous period — up to 507.2 thousand tons of copper, by $ 2.5 billion.
The bulk of Russia's copper production accounts for three companies: JSC «Norilsk Nickel», OAO «Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company» and OAO «Russian Copper Company».
