Aluminum Corporation of China (Chalco) predicts that global production capacity for primary aluminum production could reach 53 million tons before the end of 2010, said Xiong Weiping (Xiong Weiping) Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chalco.
«The release of aluminum in the world this year is likely to increase by 12% to 42.8 million tonnes, while consumption may expand by 20% to 41 million tonnes," — he said.
According to the Chalco, in the second quarter of 2010, the corporation suffered a loss because of the internal market glut has led to falling prices for aluminum.
