Provisional anti-dumping duty of up to 20.6% on imports of Chinese aluminum wheels for cars entered the European Union following a complaint by European producers to unfair competition.
European Commission competition authority performs a function, revealed that Chinese wheels were used for the assembly of machines, manufactured auto companies Renault and BMW. As a result, local suppliers of aluminum wheels suffered heavy losses in sales volume and relative market share.
According to the European Commission, the import of aluminum wheels from China rose by 60.6% from 3.7 million units in 2006 to 6.1 million by June 2009. As a consequence, the share of Chinese products in the European market increased from 6.3% in 2006 to 12.4% in 2009
