ASTM B515

This specification specifies general requirements for welded corrosion-resistant boiler tubes, heat exchanger tubes, condenser tubes of UNS N08120, N08800, N08810 alloys, and UNS N08811a alloy boiler tubes only, which are operated at low or high temperatures.

Grade

ASTM Specification B515 regulates tubing with parameters:

• 1/8 to 5 inches (3.18 to 127 mm) outside diameter;
• wall thickness 0.015 to 0.500 in (0.38 to 12.70 mm).

ASTM B514.

This specificationa describes the general requirements for welded tubes of nickel-iron-chromium alloys, with firing, hardfired. The alloys used in production are UNS N08120, N08800 and N08810b. This specification specifies the outside diameter and nominal wall thickness of the pipe as described in ANSI B36.19. Pipes having other dimensions may be manufactured and shipped under the condition that the pipe meets all other requirements of the specification.

Application

Manufacturing pipe which is operated at operating temperatures up to 1100°F (593°C). N08120 and UNS N08810 alloys are raw materials for pipe normally used in temperatures above 1100°F, where high resistance to creep and fracture are required. The pipes are tungsten carbide-tipped to enhance these qualities.

Standardization

Values stated in units of inches-pound should be considered standard. Metric values, are mathematical conversions to SI units, which are not considered standard.
