Marking
According to EN 26848, all tungsten electrodes must be marked alphanumerically. All of them are also identified by color. The first letter W stands for tungsten and the second letter for the oxide of the constituent chemical element.
The oxide designation
- P - pure tungsten;
- L - lanthanum oxide;
- C - CeO2, Ce2O3;
- T - thorium oxide;
- Z - ZrO, ZrO2.
Numerical marking.
For example, 20 indicates that the electrode contains an alloying oxide of 2%. Sometimes another number is given after the percentage of additives. It means the length of the tungsten electrode (in mm). The standard lengths of the electrodes are 50, 75, 150 and 175 mm.
