Adding antimony to the normal chemical composition of tin solders increases the strength of the solder joint. Therefore these brazing alloys are used for critical joining applications in the electrical industry, for high-pressure brazing of pipes and for tinning and brazing of refrigeration units.

Relevance
Antimony reduces the oxidation of solders when they are in the liquid state, improves their appearance, and increases their heat resistance to temperatures above 100 °C. The amount of antimony in the solders should not exceed 6%, otherwise the solder becomes brittle. This is especially important when soldering zinc and its alloys.
Applications for
Solders containing antimony have high technological properties, and no other equipment other than a soldering iron is required to produce high quality soldering. Antimony in the solders helps to increase the creep limit, reduces the tendency of products in the solder joint area to spontaneous aging, as well as eliminates the unwanted allotropic transformation of tin - the main component of the solder - during the heating process.
